Mercedes-Benz brings Econic to Singapore
German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz announced today that a trial for its latest eco-service truck, Mercedes-Benz Econic powered by Natural Gas Technology would begin in Singapore. The trucks will first be tested by Sembcorp Industries, Singapore's largest waste management firm in Singapore and aims to determine the benefits of the trucks, like cost-effectiveness and customer satisfaction. The trucks delivered to Sembcorp are powered by a choice of two engines: an in-line six-cylinder diesel unit and the other offers an option of natural gas-fueled engine. Hubertus Troska, head of Mercedes-Benz trucks, and Cees van Gent, CEO of LEHNKERING GmbH, have signed a general agreement for the delivery of 220 Mercedes-Benz trucks and a comprehensive service-leasing package for LEHNKERING's Road Logisitics & Services Division (RLS) at LEHNKERING's headquarters in Duisburg. The general agreement was signed on July 28, 2010 for four years, ending in 2013.
