Filed under:Shelby, Gran Turismo 5 was due out this March before it was delayed, then it was tipped for summer. Now Gran Turismo 5's release date has been officially nailed down after a steady string of delays and disappointments. PlayStation 3 racing fans can now look forward to GT5's official release on 2nd November, 2010.
It seems that the delays were caused by the difficulties Polyphony Digital, the developer of the game, faced while trying to introduce 3D support.
"GT5 has long been one of the industry's long anticipated titles," Jack Tretton, president and chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment America said. "And we're finally about to get our hands on Polyphony's masterpiece."
According to Sony, Gran Turismo 5 will fully support 3D gaming, along with a raft of other new PlayStation 3 titles.
GT5 was first announced at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles back in 2006. According to GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo 5 has cost $60 million to make. The game will feature 1,000 cars, 800 standard and 200 premium, and 20 different locations, with greater attention to detail.
Retailing for $99.99, the game will be released both in standard and Collector's Edition. The owner will receive certificate of authenticity with a serial number and a voucher than can be used in order to get five more cars from the PlayStation Network.
