The tsunami from Japan on March 11 killed thousands of people and produced severe damages to car factories and not only, also seriously affecting the infrastructure. The country's automobile industry appears to have been affected more than it was originally reported. Thus, Subaru has recently announced, following the announcement from Toyota, that they would extend closures at all five of its automobile assembly plants in Japan until Monday, March 28. The company representatives also stated that they restarted production of spare parts on Thursday, March 24, and production of parts for overseas production on Wednesday, March 23, while Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., the automaker's parent company, had previously reported that its production was suspended until March 24.
