Renault wants to make a sportscar

Renault will soon make a change. Using its own exceptional models will turn its Renaultsport division into a separate class.
Until now, no official decision has been made, but Renaults product manager, Beatrice Foucher did declared that the company could support a few unique models beyond its breathed-on hatchbacks. According to Autocar, the first one to arrive will be roadster based on the DeZir concept. It will have a limited production run and won't be at all cheap. To this point, a cost of ?30 has been suggested, but when it looks like this, no one will be afraid of the concept.
Maybe by the middle of the chassis' production cycle, we could see a diesel-powered version, but until then the Clio RS's 2.0-liter motor looks like a better fit for a rear-drive, mid-engined sports car that needs linear power delivery.
This roadster will probably be made in Renaultsport's production facility in Dieppe, as the plant has spare production capacity due to the fact that the Megane is made in Spain.
