Faulty windshield wipers cause Jaguar recalling 6,475 XJ sedansAccording to a NHTSA press release 6,475 U.S. Jaguar XJ units manufactured between July 2008, 2009 and November 3, 2010, are recalled, as the cars present a windshield problem. The announcement was made by the safety agency on its website, stating also that during operation, the securing nuts could fail, thus resulting in a failure of synchronization and finally a clash of the wiper arms. The problem is serious in the sense that there is a risk that the wipers might detach from the car and leave the driver blind in the middle of a pouring rain. At highway speeds, this risk is a very dangerous one, so the dealers are going to check whether the wiper arms are fitted correctly onto the spindle and the securing nuts will also be tightened. As we were accustomed with most of the recalls, they are to be carried out free of charge. The specialists scheduled the recall to begin on or before December 13, 2010.
