When an automaker has no new model set for launch in a short time frame yet they still want to make some more cash, they use the trick of launching a special edition version of an already existent model. This way, by launching a limited edition model, everybody wins. The automaker wins some extra cash and the owner has the impression he has a rare car, making himself feel important.
Infiniti is no exception as they announced a special edition version of their luxury crossover Infiniti FX that will be named Infiniti FX Limited Edition (I wonder if it was difficult for them to come up with this name). The Infiniti FX Limited Edition will be built in only 18 units for the British market while 100 units will be destined for the Western Europe market. The second generation Infiniti FX made its world debut at the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, so it is just two years old.
The interior features of the
Infiniti FX Limited Edition includes a 10 GB music box with Gracenotes database, illuminated ``Infiniti`` entry guards, full iPod connectivity, carbon fiber trim that replaces the standard maple wood veneer, the Michelin Guide infotainment system, Graphite leather upholstered seats, an eleven speaker Bose Premium Sound System, upper door panels and dashboard with contrasting stitching and Alcantara headlining.
The exterior features of the
Infiniti FX Limited Edition includes dark graphite roof rails, dark smoked headlight surrounds, dark graphite finished side air vents, specially commissioned 21 inch ``Turbine`` design alloy wheels finished in dark graphite as well as dark graphite finished radiator grille.
As you probably guessed by now, the
Infiniti FX Limited Edition will not get any modified engine options. Thus, the potential buyers will have to choose from two options: the first one is an Infiniti FX Limited Edition based on the
Infiniti FX50S that has a V8 engine and a second option which is an Infiniti FX Limited Edition based on the Infiniti FX37S with a V6 engine. It is also important to mention that the
Infiniti FX Limited Edition will be offered in a Moonlight White pearl metallic finish as an option while standard will be a Black Obsidian ``Scratch Guard`` finish.
The Infiniti FX Limited Edition based on the 390 horsepower V8 powered
Infiniti FX50S will have a base price of 62.035 British pounds or 70.756 Euro or 98.345 U.S. dollars while the Infiniti FX Limited Edition based on the 320 horsepower V6 powered Infiniti FX37S will have a base price of 55.855 British pounds or 63.706 Euro or 88.546 U.S. dollars.
