Holden introduces its new Police Van

Most global manufacturers show their newest contraptions at the Frankfurt Auto Show this year but, Holden continues its business, debuting Victoria's ultimate division van. The vehicle's based on VW Omega Ute 2010, incorporating the same safety features (advanced ) seen on the basic unit, including a 6 airbags.
Alan Batey, Holden’s Managing Director and Chairman said 'Holden worked very closely with the
Victoria Police and Bellmont to design, develop, test and build what is a state-of-the-art workhorse for modern policing. With six airbags and a range of driver aids including Electronic Stability Program we are very confident in this vehicle’s real world safety capabilities. Coupled with a purpose-designed policing pod, it is a winning combination'.
'We're delighted these advances will help improve the safety of police officers as they carry out their duties'.
The Australian maker will supply 200 divisional vans (approximately) to the Victoria Police, having the very 1st models to be delivered in 2009, November.
Batey affirmed 'We've been working with Victoria Police for more than 50 years and this divisional van takes that great relationship to a new level. This
vehicle demonstrates the ability of our design and engineering teams to work with local suppliers to develop innovative products for specific market needs'.
The pod of the car is build of corrosive strong, lightweight and resistant materials, contributing to the engine
performance and fuel efficiency.
Andy Balmain, the Bellmont’s Sales and Marketing Manager said 'The pod is designed to transfer onto multiple base vehicles over the many years of expected service. With such a long term service life, there are significant cost benefits of this multiple life capability that make it very attractive to fleet customers both large and small'.
