2012 Ford Focus the next generation of the American compact

2012 Ford Focus the next generation of the American compactLately, the compact car segment has gone through some serious transformations especially regarding the overall features that tend to borrow more and more ideas from the big sedan segment, while keeping at the same time a very low fuel consumption level. And this is the general trend even when it comes to the new 2012 Ford Focus.
Available as a hatchback or as a sedan, the new Focus features a menacing fascia with massive front air inlets and new redesigned headlights. The back, however, is completely different at the hatch as the model has a fuel door integrated into the new redesigned tail lamps and also a very sporty looking roof spoiler.
The interior of the new Focus is nice and stylish but the materials used are rather common, with cloth seats and plastic bolstering. Still, for the top end of the option sheet, Ford is offering also leather seats with contrasting stitches.
Also, the gauges are really easy to read and the small LCD screen mounted between the tachometer and the speedometer can report anything from fuel consumption to your trip meter.
For the moment, the new Ford will come with only one engine option - the 2.0 liter, 160 hp naturally aspirated direct injection gasoline engine. Still, people can choose between a classic 5 speed manual gear box and a dual clutch transmission that has the down low of reacting quite slow.
The bottom line is that the new Focus has all it takes to be a good care and its direct competitors the Elantra and the Cruze have serious reasons to fear the competition.
