The new Fiat Freemont a Dodge in desguiseIt seems that the over the ocean involvement of Fiat in the American car manufacturing business has its own benefits for the Italian car company.
So, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Fiat has unveiled its latest MPV, the Freemont.
Bassically the same car as the American Dodge Journey, the Freemont comes with small design adjustments regarding the front and rear bumpers, the grille and the tail lamps that now have LED lights. Apart from all these, Fiat declares that the Freemont has a special suspension and steering configuration, but that remains to be seen.
Under the hood, the Freemont will hold one of the two available engines: the 2.0 liter, 140 hp or the 2.0, 170 hp powerplant, both of them having multijet diesel technology. Later on, the offer will grow with another 276 hp, 3,6 liter powerfull engine. Still holding on the technical side, we can say that the new Fiat will have in the first stage a manual gear box and later, the Italian company will introduce another automatic transmission.
On the other hand, the interior of the Freemont features seven seats, keyless entry, cruise control, climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system. Also, there will be two trim levels and the maximul cargo capacity will be around 1461 liters.
For the moment Fiat announced that the Freemont will hit the showrooms somewhere in the second half of 2011.
