Dacia Duster to challenge Pikes Peak

Long talked about, the Dacia Duster is undoubtedly one of the best sold SUV's in Europe, still today we're not going to talk about the street car but about the Andros Trophy version that entered and won last year's contest with Alain Prost behind the wheel.
This year, it seems that the challenge goes a step further for the Duster as the Romanian/French competition version of the SUV is awaited to take part in this year's Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Now we're not talking about some merry sweet little ride but about one of the most dangerous and daring snow hill climbing races in the world.
For the moment, as far as we know, Jean-Philippe Dayraut's team, one of the Andros competitors, approached Tork Engineering, the same firm that tuned up Alain Prost's Andros Duster, in order to build a Pike's Peak challenger using a powerful Nissan GTR 850 hp engine
In the past years, the legendary and quite brutal Pikes Peak competition has been dominated by Suzuki Nobuhiro Tajima and other similar 'monsters". Still, if the rumors are correct, for the 2011 trophy, the Dacia hill climber can really turn into a real threat for all the other competitors.
