Aveo is dead long live the new Sonic

Aveo is dead long live the new SonicDo you remember the old Chevrolet Aveo? Well, say goodbye to it because now, at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet has unveiled his succesor, the new Chevy Sonic.
The new sub-compact comes this time either as a five-door hatch or as a four door sedan being designed to compete with the new Hyuday Elantra and with slightly older Ford Fiesta. Also the engines offer is different from the old Aveo, the buyers having to pick this time between an 1.8 liter engine or an 1.4 liter turbocharged, the later being able to turn in about 138 horsepower, shifted either by a five-speed manual gearbox or by a six-speed automatic transmission.
The road grip will be insured by a front MacPherson strut suspension and a back torsion beam system, both of them being designed by the same team that worked on the new Chevrolet Corvette.
The interior was also recreated to integrate the design elements that we've already seen in the new Spark, including that motorcycle style dashboard that made a lot of fuss when it was first seen on Chevy's compact model.
