Caparo supplying body panels for Tata Nano

Caparo, the maker of the super-advanced T1, will build the body structures for Tata Nano. Caparo has been building similar items for some other car makers in India for the past three years. Their buyer list boasts also of Ashok Leyland and JCB.
60% of all the assemblies will be in the care of Caparo. The structural panels will be assembled and pressed at the plant in Singur, West Bengal, where the vehicle will be manufactured. To keep the prices down, Caparo has used a brand new semi automated production line having zero fault forward quality control systems, ensuring top efficiency.
’The body technology is relatively conventional, but the manufacturing technology is the result of very sophisticated analysis to ensure high-quality, low cost production’ said Angad Paul - Caparo Group CEO.
The reason
Tata has handed this specific task to
Caparo is because of the good reputation for manufacturing high quality components, plus they supply components also to the rival Maruti Suzuki`s 800.
