2011 BMW 5-Series diesel confirmed for the United StatesToday a BMW official confirmed the arrival of a diesel-powered 5-Series in the United States. The BMW official wouldn't confirm which diesel model is headed to the U.S., but did say it would be one of two diesels added to the U.S. lineup.

The company didn't reveal many details about the engine. The range is sold with three diesel choices, starting with the base 2.0-liter inline-four with 184 hp (137 kW, 187 PS) and up to 280 ft-lb of torque. Then two inline-six 3.0-liter models are sold, with one producing 204 hp (152 kW, 207 PS) and up to 332 ft-lb, while the other is rated to 245 hp (183 kW, 248 PS) and up to 398 ft-lb.

A release date for the US-spec 5er Diesel was not disclosed.
